Plaque reads: This jersey was signed by: Bob Bugden, Reg Gasnier, Brian Messiter, Kevin Neal, Norman Provan, Johnny Raper, John Riley and Geoff Weekes from the famous 1959 St George rugby league side, who won their fourth successive premiership and became the only side not to lose a match in a season.
This jersey was also signed by some famous St George names: Wayne Bennett, Craig Young, Brian Johnston, Wendel Sailor & Graeme Wynn.
The Unbeatable 59'ers
In a season where St George went through undefeated, The Mighty Dragons capped off a perfect record in front of 49,457 fans with a 20-0 thrashing of Manly in the Grand Final. The match was never in doubt as the Saints' forwards demolished the Manly pack, paving the way for the backline.
The Saints finished the season as minor premiers with no other team getting close. After 18 rounds, St George had scored an average of over 30 points per match and conceded an average of only ten points. With the best attacking and best defensive record in the 1959 competition, the Saints slaughtered many teams, often racking up scores of over 40 and twin scoring over 60. Their worst results was a 20 all draw against Balmain in round 11 on My 30 at Kogarah.
